January 17, 2014 – Officials for Global Golf Management, a leading golf management company headquartered in Chicago, today announced that GGM has been hired to oversee tournament operations for the Cleveland Open, a new event on the Web.com Tour scheduled for June 5‐8 at Lakewood Country Club in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake, Ohio.
The Cleveland Open is one of a handful of events on the Web.com Tour that GGM will operate this year. The full Web.com Tour schedule for 2014 has yet to be finalized. Golf Channel will provide four‐round coverage of the event featuring 156 players.
“We’re elated to partner with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Milestone Sports Management to help put on a great tournament,” said Mike Harmon, principal at Global Golf Management. “We’re well aware of the tremendous support Cleveland fans give to sporting events in the area, and that’s something that makes our job easier, knowing what they expect in a golf tournament. We’re looking forward to helping foster an atmosphere that produces a great week of golf.”
Global Golf Management will be responsible for all tournament operations of the Cleveland Open. The organization is familiar with the northeast Ohio sports scene; it also assists Championship Management with the operations for the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron.
Founded in 1989, Global Golf Management annually oversees the tournament operations for 30‐plus golf events around the world as well as golf outings and special events.
“We are excited to partner with Global Golf Management for the Cleveland Open,” said Ben Cooke, tournament director. “Cleveland is a great sports town, and with the experience that Mike and Jeff [Raedle, GGM President] have, we know that GGM will deliver a fantastic tournament experience for players and spectators alike. It’s a great golf course in a great city, and we can’t wait to them all come together.”
