GGM expands, now oversees more than 40 golf tournaments worldwide

January 28, 2015 – With next week’s third edition of the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, Global Golf Management, a leading golf management company headquartered in Chicago, kicks off a schedule of more than 40 golf tournaments worldwide under its purview.

Included in its stable of events is the new Barbasol Championship, a PGA TOUR event that GGM spearheaded in creating. The $3.5 million tournament, played opposite the British Open, is scheduled for July 13-19 at the Grand National-Lake Course in Opelika, Ala., a part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

“We are very excited about bringing together two great brands in Barbasol and the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail,” said Mike Harmon, principal at Global Golf Management. ”To be at the forefront of the effort to bring the PGA TOUR back to Alabama has been a great experience, and we’re looking forward to making this a long-running tournament that we, the TOUR, our sponsors and the Auburn/Opelika area can be proud of.”

The Barbasol Championship is one of six tournaments that GGM fully manages in 2015. The others are the Puerto Rico Open, also on the PGA TOUR, the Rex Hospital Open on the Web.com Tour and three LPGA events: The Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic, the Airbus LPGA Classic and next week’s Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic in Paradise Island.

In addition to the Barbasol Championship, GGM has added two other events in which it will handle operations. Most prominent is the U.S. Women’s Open, which this year visits Lancaster

Country Club in Lancaster, PA. The other is the Volunteers of America North Texas Shootout in Irving, Texas.

Another high-profile event in which Global Golf Management will provide operational support is the 11th Presidents Cup Oct. 5-11 in Incheon City, Korea.

“It’s going to be another busy and exciting year for us and we are looking forward to working with all of our tournament partners,” said GGM President Jeff Raedle. “The additions to our schedule continue our trend of growth and is a reflection of the great team we have put together. We are grateful for the many opportunities from tours around the world to help present the game of golf in the best light possible.”
